Unknown Graveyard
Pleasant Township
This cemetery is on private land. The owner's name is unknown to me. I was told that there is an open well in the area. I did not see it, but caution should be taken. Directions: From Madison, take Hwy. 62 through Canaan to Hwy. 129 in Ripley County. Turn right on Hwy 129 you will be going into Switzerland County right away. Turn left on the first road, (Adams Road). This is a dead end road. Take it all the way past Bishop Lane cross a brook, go up a hill. At the top of the hill look to your right across a small field. The graves are just inside the woods at the southwest corner of that field. Stones: William David Skeen son of Jonathan & Malinda (Dates were under ground, couldn't read) Eleanor Skeen daughter of Jonathan & Malinda died Feb. 27, 1848 age 17 yrs. & 11 months Malinda Skeen wife of Jonathan died Jan. 5, 1852 age 47 years & 7 months Zebulun Brinson died April 20, 1851 on the 80th year of his age. There weren't any signs of any other stones here except 2 footstones, one of which was Malinda's.
