Ash CemeteryCraig Township.Section 21 Twp. 3N Range 12 E The George Ash cemetery is located on a bank of the creek off State Route 56 at Lamb, Indiana. On December 7, 1840, as recorded in Book 1, p. 390, in the Recorder's office at the Switzerland County court house, George Ash gave a portion of his land by the (then) present grave yard to be used also as a burying ground. The deed was recorded February 25, 1841. The above description is from Wanda Morford’s Switzerland County cemetery transcriptions. However, she lists only the stones of George C. and Caroline Ash and Mary Stratford. Her work notes that “there were seven listed with eight burials.” According to the current owner of the George Ash House, Steve Huffman (2000), George Ash’s stone still exists. The cemetery and the house are now in the hands of the different owners. This transcription combines Morford’s work, information from Steve Huffman, and a 1956 transcription by a great-great granddaughter.
