McClure's Company, (E) of the Third Regiment of United States Mounted Voluntary Cavalry was enlisted by Capt. W. S. McClure of the 3rd Regiment of Indiana Cavalry at Madison, Indiana on the 18th day of July 1861, to serve 3 years (or during the war); he was born in New York in the State of New York is 43 years of age, 5 feet 7 1/2 inches high, dark complexion, hazel eyes, gray hair, and by occupation when enlisted a Blacksmith. During the last two months, said soldier has been unfit for duty 27 days. By reason of varicose veins in the lower extremities of several years duration. The veins large and painful. /s/ W. S. McClure, Capt., Commanding Company. I certify, that I have carefully examined the said David Rushton of Captain W. S. McClure's Company, and find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of varicose veins in the lower extremities of several years standing.
