Oliver - Martin Bible

This Bible was probably brought to Indiana in 1845 by Obedience Alley, widow of Samuel Oliver of Rockingham Co., N.C. Samuel died in Rockingham Co. Obedience settled in Milton Twp., near the former Home Church on Dry Fork. Obedience was buried in the Phillips family cemetery nearby. One note: the Bible of Samuel Oliver’s parents James and Susannah Oliver, submitted in Susannah’s application for a Revolutionary War pension, shows that Samuel was born in 1794, not 1792. Since the parents’ Bible shows another child born in 1792, Samuel was probably born in 1794.
